We Make Difference in their Life

In a country where the word “peace” is rarely used to describe daily life, the Alafia Foundation was born out of a quiet but powerful conviction: that peace is not a privilege, but a right, and it begins with opportunity. Founded in 2018 by Mrs. Sumbo Odunsi and her daughter Ms. Anjola Odunsi, Alafia, named after the Yoruba word for “peace”, emerged as a response to the silent struggles of women and girls living in under-resourced communities across Nigeria. What began as a mother-daughter mission has grown into a movement to restore dignity, hope, and self-reliance. Alafia doesn’t just offer aid, it offers the tools to rise. Through educational sponsorships, entrepreneurship training, and emotional well-being programs, the foundation opens doors that poverty and instability have kept shut for generations. Alafia believes in the power of women and girls to lead, to heal, and to build. We walk alongside them, not ahead of them, equipping them to reclaim their voices, their futures, and their peace. Because when a girl has the chance to stay in school, when a woman can start her own business, when a family sees a path forward, peace is no longer a dream. It’s a reality we build together. At Alafia, this is the change we live for. This is the story we invite you to be part of.
