In a country where the word “peace” is rarely used to describe daily life, the Alafia Foundation was born out of a quiet but powerful conviction: that peace is not a privilege, but a right, and it begins with opportunity. Founded in 2018 by Mrs. Sumbo Odunsi and her daughter Ms. Anjola Odunsi, Alafia, named after the Yoruba word for “peace”, emerged as a response to the silent struggles of women and girls living in under-resourced communities across Nigeria. Raising a child is not a one-person job, it takes a community. It Takes a Village creates safe spaces for parents, guardians, and community members to learn, share, and grow together.
Through open conversations and guided discussions, we address:

Mobile Library
(Access to Books, Access to Opportunity)
For many children, access to books is limited, but the desire to learn is not.
The Mobile Library brings books and learning resources directly to schools and communities.
With every visit, students can:

3. Participate in literacy activities
By taking knowledge to where it’s needed most, we build a culture of reading and unlock potential.
